Frankincense essential oil | treasure of the gods

Kadidlo esenciálny olej | poklad bohov

We know the 4 most famous types of frankincense ( Boswellia sacra synonym Boswellia carterii , Boswellia serrata , Boswellia papyrifera, Boswellia frereana), which differ from each other chemically, but have almost identical effects. In our offer, you will find the species Boswellia carterii , which is obtained from the resin of wild-growing frankincense trees and comes from a producer in Somalia with a bio-certificate. Frankincense strengthens immunity and is known for its analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects.

About the plant Boswellia carterii

Frankincense is a medium-sized tree with a light crown growing to a height of 15 meters. It has a woody , earthy and spicy aroma with a slightly fruity undertone . The Latin name Boswellia carterii is often cited in the literature as a synonym for Boswellia sacra. A study comparing the chemical composition of these two types of incense showed that they are not fundamentally different . The only difference was the higher content of α-pinenes in the sacra species, so the researchers came to the conclusion that these are two different types of frankincense. However, the Slovak translation of the Latin species Boswellia carterii is not given - so the true incense stick is used.

The history of incense

We can read about frankincense already in the Bible, which is why it is called the "biblical tree". In Egypt (around the 15th century BC), incense was used in magical and religious rituals .
