The word yoga in translation means connection. This exceptional exercise, unlike other types of exercise, offers, in addition to physical activity, the connection of body and mind with our self. The benefits of regular exercise build strength and harmony.
It is said that nothing is more important than health, and it is thanks to the effects of yoga that both physical and mental health are kept in balance. The mind also relaxes, the metabolism remains in motion and chronic headache, lower back or back pain is alleviated. The combination on which yoga works is work with the body and mind, while through breathing exercises life energy flows through us.
Essential oils - Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is a holistic treatment technique in which we use essential oils (essential oils). Aromatherapy helps to fully utilize the healing properties of pure essential oils. Already in in ancient Egypt, plants were cultivated, from which herbalists subsequently obtained oils.
Aromatherapy is based on stimulation of nerve endings. Impulses sent to the brain thus affect the parts of the brain that control memory and emotions. The effects of essential oils react together with our body's hormones and enzymes, which results in positive changes in the form of changes in blood pressure, pulse or other body functions. Another theory suggests that the scent of certain oils can stimulate the body to produce pain-fighting substances. |
Nothing new, but a long historical journey
Both practices went through a long journey that shaped them into what they are today and that currently serves us and brings many health benefits . The history of aromatherapy dates back to prehistoric times, when juniper berries were used as an antiseptic. However, the use of aromatherapy was already known in China and India, where cholera was treated with sandalwood. Later, in the 18th century, apothecaries began to add essential oils (essential oils) to their herbs. A cologne containing essential oils - rosemary , bergamot , neroli and lavender - was also developed.
The case of a French chemist and perfumer named Rene Maurice Gattefosse is also known, who burned his hand in 1910 and quickly put it in a container with lavender oil. The magic of lavender oil was rediscovered. Thanks to his experience, Gattefosse continued to treat with essential oils during World War I, when he helped soldiers in hospitals. The word aromatherapy was first used in his scientific work from 1928.
The beginnings of yoga were developed by the Indus-Sarasvati civilization in northern India more than 5,000 years ago. The word yoga was first mentioned in the oldest sacred texts, the Rig Veda. The classical period of yoga is defined according to Patanjali's Yoga - Sûtrasa - in his first systematic presentation of the practice. A few centuries after him, yoga masters created a system of practices designed to rejuvenate the body and prolong life. They thus rejected the ancient teachings of science and accepted the physical body as a means of attaining enlightenment. Today, many practices and styles of yoga originating from ancient and medieval India are known in the world . Because feel after all, everyone wants to feel good about their body . And yoga is one of the best practices for that.
Correct breathing techniques and the power of aromatherapy
When yoga is combined with essential oils, the senses can be deepened much more and the positive effects of the exercise are multiplied. By combining yoga and aromatherapy, we can exponentially increase the benefits and expand the therapeutic elements of both approaches. Yoga is perfect for awakening the senses and energy. But if we also use essential oils together with it, a surge of strength will be guaranteed.
Rosemary and peppermint essential oil will open our body and mind wide open. If we want to intensify the rush of energy, we can rub a few drops of oil on the back of the neck to revitalize the body before a yoga class.
During yoga practice, we breathe in and out through our nose. The exception is special yoga breathing exercises.
Morning and short 15 minute yoga go hand in hand. Morning yoga will wake you up better than coffee , and the effects will last all day. Try to revive the atmosphere and awaken a new day in you with a mixture of lemongrass and bergamot. Such morning aromatherapy not only wakes up the body and mind, but also lifts the soul .We will experience regeneration in a yoga class by mixing lavender and incense , which will significantly improve peace of mind and take meditation to a new level. The reward after an hour will be significantly better sleep and a purified body. A comfortable meditation cushion and inhalation of essential oils directly from your palms is enough for you.
Essential oils as part of yoga practice
The combination of yoga and aromatherapy is beneficial for health and offers many benefits. Experienced yogis combine both practices at the same time and thus can enjoy incredible positive results in the form of improvement of the overall physical condition, mind, body and soul.

"Scents are an integral part of my life. They belong to all my childhood memories, my first home...To everything that happened in my life. That's why they should not be missing even in my yoga practice. If I had to choose one oil, it would definitely it was myrrh. It calms me down and gives me back the energy I've lost during the day. I love its earthy scent and the peace it evokes in you. My whole life smells of coniferous trees. And myrrh can transport me to this place I believe that it helps me deepen the moment in yoga - and if you believe it, it must be true :)" |
Piňayoga TIP → mix a few drops on the mat in the front part or in the flower sprayer with distilled water and spray the yoga mat a few times. The scent will stay right under your hands and you won't want to leave during shavasana :) With PURA product, a drop or two is really enough.

"For me, it is convenient to use a few drops of oil or a mixture of oils using a diffuser in my yoga practice, so that the smell is not too strong and we can concentrate on our practice and not be distracted by the smell. On the contrary, during the final relaxation, I also use oil drops directly on the body, for example, on my wrist and I consciously inhale them. It is good to choose oils intuitively, but in general, if we have practice in the morning and need a kick, then citrus scents are suitable, on the contrary, if we are distracted and want to support concentration, for example, incense is excellent."
